In addition to provisions for cooperatives, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) also created Health Benefit Exchanges in each state. The Connect for Health Colorado Exchange is a Colorado-specific “online marketplace” designed to make it easier for individuals, families and small groups to shop for and purchase health insurance. It aims to increase access, affordability and choice by providing multiple options based on the unique needs of Coloradans.
On the Exchange website, consumers and small businesses will be able to find insurance products available to them, compare benefit packages and prices, determine eligibility for tax credits and, ultimately, purchase the insurance of their choice.
Plans offered by the CO-OP will be available through the Connect for Health Colorado Exchange and independent brokers beginning October 2013.
